BALLET

Ballet is a highly technical style that draws on both grace and strength, often performed to classical music.  The class focuses on building flexibility and technique and is recommended for all dancers to build a strong dance foundation.

LYRICAL

Combines the techniques of jazz, contemporary and ballet.  Lyrical invites dancers to use their bodies to interpret the music.  While mainly choreographed to music with lyrics, “lyrical” generally refers to the expressive, melodic & highly emotional quality of dance. Dancers gain fluidity of movement, grace & control.

DANCEFIT

A fun exercise type class incorporating continuous dance movements from many styles.  The playlist changes up each week.

BREAKING

Breaking is the original dance of hip hop to come out of the Bronx, New York in the 1970’s.  You will learn the essentials to becoming a b-boy or b-girl, from top rock and down rock, to power moves and freezes.

COMMERCIAL

Developed through the entertainment industry, commercial is seen in music videos, film clips and stage shows.  This style focuses on choreography to popular tracks allowing the style to fit under a broad category.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop may have many individualised styles but the roots lay in the party grooves and freestyling originating from the streets and clubs.  With the blending of different music styles, hip hop continues to re-invent itself with a broader range of influences and free expression.

ACRO DANCE

Focusing on balance, strength, conditioning and flexibility, this style incorporates various elements of dance and acrobatics including tumbling, cartwheeling, balancing and lifts.

POINTE

Pointe is part of classical ballet technique made possible by pointe shoes.  Designed for dancers with previous training, classes include barre exercises, centre work and across the floor combinations.

*Must be paired with at least one Ballet class

It will be at the teacher’s assessment and discretion as to when dancers will go en pointe.  Dancers must pass a pre-pointe assessment with a recommended Physio. Their safety is our highest priority.  In the initial stages, whilst dancers are strengthening their ankles, dancers will begin training on demi pointe.

CONTEMPORARY

A creative dance form which combines strong technique with a sense of release.  Contemporary can appear abstract with expressive movements that are combined in a raw form.  Dancers will explore emotions and freedom of movement to showcase their technique and lived experiences.

JAZZ

Jazz is a theatrical style of dance that incorporates technique and iconic moves such as kicks, turns and leaps and is great for developing flexibility and fitness. Often associated with musicals such as Chicago or Hairspray, jazz is also the style used by icons such as Kylie Minogue and Madonna and often features in live concerts, opening ceremonies and music videos.

LYRICAL FUSION

Explore beyond the familiar.  Discover new shapes, new textures and deeper musical connection.It allows dancers to use their bodies to interpret music in a way that blends fluidity and articulation.  Movements are choreographed to accent lyrics, beats and sounds whilst capturing emotion and conveying a story.

LATIN FUSION

Bringing in the Batucadas!  This style will fuse traditional Latin technique with jazz contemporary grooves. Dancers will perform a series of technique drills and learn a variety of exciting combinations to the latest fiery Latin hits!

HEELS (18yrs+)

A class in heels for dancers who want to build confidence by delving into their feminine energy.  The style’s changing rhythm can range from strong dynamic accents to captivating slow, sensual choreography.  You will strut out of class empowered with a new found confidence.

TAP

In this style, a dancer can make music with their feet that compliments the music or creates a whole new rhythm!  This class will explore a new age take on Tap - Fusing Commercial & Hip Hop elements of dance, with percussive sounds to the music of now.
