Term 2 Enrolments
As of Term 2, 2011 The Dance Collective will be moving to a PRE-PAID fee system.
Re-enrolments for current dancers – OPENS 11 APRIL
Dancers currently enrolled at The Dance Collective will be given first priority to re-enrol before classes are opened to new dancers. Dancers will have up until 30 April to pay their term fees and secure their place.
WHAT TO DO:
1. Fill in the attached form (click here) and make payment at reception by Saturday 30 April. The studio will be open during the school holidays (except public holidays) weekdays between 1.00 – 5.00pm.
2. Alternatively dancers can email their enrolment forms to info@thedancecollective.com.au or post them to our PO Box 1139, Willagee Central 6156 with receipt of payment (direct transfer or paypal). Credit card payments are also acceptable over the phone 9314 7997.
Enrolment for new dancers – OPENS 2 MAY
After current dancers have re-enrolled, new dancers to TDC have the option to take available spaces in classes. Pre-payment is required before commencement of class. Priority will be given to dancers on waiting lists if the class has limited places available.
DANCERS ARE ONLY ABLE TO START CLASSES IN TERM 2 IF THEIR FEES HAVE BEEN PAID.
Cannot pay your term fees?
The best option is to attend classes and pay each week as a ‘casual’ (permitting the class is not full) and then enrol in the term as soon as you can pay the term fees.
Over the past few years TDC has spent hundreds of hours of time and labour chasing up unpaid fees. The decision to move to pre-paid fees means we can spend more administration time looking after our studio and providing the highest quality service to our dancers and parents.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Term 2 commences 9 May. Look forward to you continuing your classes with us.
TDC's Dare to Dance for Japan
TDC wants to help...
DARE TO DANCE FOR JAPAN
The massive earthquake and resulting tsunami that struck Japan on 11 March has caused widespread destruction and suffering, relayed on television screens around the world. More than 8,000 people have died in the disaster, thousands are injured and at least 12,000 are missing. Many people are living in evacuation centres as 14,000 homes have been destroyed and around 100,000 are damaged.
TDC had initially booked a Dance Week event publicised in the Ausdance calendar called “Dare To Dance” in which we would offer a day of $10 classes to the general public on Sunday 8 May.
We now would like to change the focus of this day to a FUNDRAISING APPEAL FOR JAPAN, offering a range of classes on May 4 & 5 (we didn't realised 8 May was Mother's Day).

Welcome to TDC's brand new website!
Term 3 has just commenced at The Dance Collective and, amongst some other changes, the website has come back from the break with a new facelift!
Accompanying the new appearance, the site now has more information regarding classes, teachers, and so on, and will also be regularly updated with the latest news and changes to keep you up-to-date! We hope that this upgrade will not only support and represent TDC's professional yet welcoming atmosphere, but will also provide a more useful source of information for both current and future members of our community.
We are currently working on implementing a number of cool new features, which will improve the site's aesthetic appeal and functionality to an even greater degree.
In the meantime, enjoy the new site, and dance on!
TDC's first Choreographers Ball
Two of our teachers, Janelle Vaccaro and Arisa K Herbert, showcased their choreography with TDC dancers at this year's Fiesta Perth Choreographers Ball on 16 April. Janelle returned from LA at the beginning of the year where she was been working as a professional dancer and choreographer for the last three years. Teaching for the first time at TDC this year her Jazz Funk and Burlesque classes are proving to be popular with our experienced adult dancers. Her piece "Love Kills" showcased our dancers performing her unique style and choreography. Arisa showcased her outstanding hip hop piece "Ninja" from last year’s concert. Performing "Ninja" now for the second time, dancers stepped up in confidence and energy and the result was a remarkably polished performance. Congratulations and thank to Janelle and Arisa and all dancers who worked hard in rehearsals and performance. TDC is proud of your work.
Michelle gets callback for Hairspray auditions
Senior dancer and teacher Michelle Peters successfully passed the first audition stage for a role in the Australian musical theatre production of Hairspray. Auditions were being held all over Australia and Perth was the first stop. Michelle was first asked to sing and from there was called back to dance. This involved learning and performing choreography by Jason Coleman, acclaimed judge and choreographer on SYTYCD. Michelle was then called back again to perform in front of the Director and Producer of the show in groups of three. Successful in the final stage she has been selected out of a group of 40 to be considered for a role. Michelle will find out at the end of this week! The production is due to start in Melbourne, October. Michelle teaches Intermediate Hip Hop on Wednesday 5pm and Kids Club Hip Hop on Saturday 11am.

TDC dancers in TV mini-series 'Cloudstreet'
We will soon be seeing six dancers, two husbands and two boyfriends from TDC on TV! TDC was first contacted by a Perth casting agent looking for dancers to appear in a ballroom sceen for TV mini-series 'Cloudstreet,' a 6-part mini-series based on Tim Winton's novel.
Casey Bullen, Sharee Rasmussen, Erin Blackley, Renne Manno and Kane Morriss danced their way through the eight hour shoot and all commented the experience was unbelievable. Impressed by their professionalism, the casting agent returned to TDC to ask for other extras for more scenes and from there we sent Scott Pollock, Lee Rasmussen, Dan Beard, Julian Myc and Jemima Thompson to different scenes filmed around Perth. Thank you to all actors involved and being such fine representatives of The Dance Collective.
