Classical ballet is a specific technique that gives you a full understanding of your body. The class which focuses on building strength, flexibility and core stability is recommend for dancers if they wish to pursue dance as a career.
What to wear:
Compulsory uniform up to Intermediate: black leotard, pink stockings, black or pink ballet skirt or black bike shorts; ballet shoes with elastic; hair slicked back in a tight bun.
18+yrs: Use the above as a guide

B-boying and b-girling or better known within the media as breakdancing, is the original dance of hip hop to come out of the Bronx, New York in the 1970's. Since its re-insurgence in the 1990's, this freestyle dance to funk and hip hop has gained popularity across the globe. You will learn the essentials to becoming a b-boy or b-girl, from toprock and downrock, to power moves and freezes.
What to wear:
Non-restrictive street wear such as track pants and long shorts with a t-shirt or tank top, sneakers, cap, bandanna, wrist bands and knee pads.

Lose your inhibitions and discover your flirtatious side. Movements are sassy and cheeky and you will find yourself feeling glamorous within weeks.
What to wear:
Comfortable clothing allowing you to feel good and move freely, e.g. track pants, leggings, tank top. Sneakers for the warm up and heels or boots for the remainder of the class.

A creative dance form which combines strong technique with a sense of release. Choreography usually tells a story or portrays a theme and can rely greatly on the contribution of the dancers themselves.
What to wear:
Compulsory uniform up to Intermediate: black leotard, black ¾ leggings or boy leg shorts with tan or black tights, bare feet and hair tied back, headband recommended.
18+yrs: Fitted top (sports top, leotard, tank top), 3/4 or full length pants, bare feet, hair tied back, headband recommended.

A fluid, earthy style of hip hop that is infused with an African and Jamaican flavour. It is known for its energetic feel and sometimes rugged vibe. Beyoncé, Missy Elliot and Sean Paul are a few of the many hip hop artists who incorporate Dancehall into their choreography and video clips.
What to wear:
Comfortable wear which allows you to move freely such as track pants, leggings and tank top and sneakers.

Hip Hop is a broad category that includes a variety of urban dance styles. Constantly evolving from the earlier styles of breaking, locking and popping, hip hop is a free, funky and soulful expression of movement used by artists such as Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown and Rihanna.
What to wear:
Non-restrictive street wear such as track pants, long shorts (the baggier the better!) with a t-shirt, hoodie or tank top; accessorise with scarfs, hats or caps and sneakers (no jazz boots).

Jazz is a commercial style of dancing that incorporates technique such as kicks, turns and leaps and is great for developing flexibility and fitness. Often associated with musicals such as Chicago or Fame, jazz is also the style used by pop stars such as Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Britney Spears and often features in pop concerts, opening ceremonies and music videos.
What to wear:
Compulsory uniform up to Intermediate: black leotard; ¾ black leggings or black boy leg shorts with tights, bare feet and hair tied back, headband recommended.
18 yrs+: fitted top (sports top, leotard, tank top), ¾ or full length leggings or boy leg shorts with tights, bare feet and hair tied back, headband recommended.

Jazz Funk is a hybrid of hip hop with foundation movements in jazz.
What to wear:
Comfortable wear which allows you to move freely such as track pants, leggings and tank top and sneakers.

Combines the techniques of jazz, contemporary and ballet. Lyrical invites dancers to use their bodies to interpret the music. While mainly choreographed to music with lyrics, "lyrical" generally refers to the expressive, melodic and highly emotional quality of dance. Dancers gain fluidity of movement, grace and control.
What to wear:
Leggings or boy leg shorts with tights, a comfortable top, knee pads and bare feet.

Musical Theatre is the art of combining song, dance, spoken dialogue and acting to communicate a story. Focusing on musical interpretation (using dance to explain the dialogue), technique, strength and characterisation, these classes will be great for the development of the actor within the dancer. Classes will work with a mix of popular music (Glee style!), blended with broadway hits, movie musicals and all that jazz. Working with WAAPA‟s musical theatre lecturer Bernie Bernard, this class will be a real treat.
What to wear:
Dance clothes of your choice and a range of shoe options depending on the style of jazz (e.g. sneakers, bare feet or high heels).

Dancing to a range of Dora the Explorer, Hi-5, The Wiggles, The Fairies and much more, these classes will be interactive allowing parents to join in on all the fun.
What to wear:
Comfortable clothing or dance attire and bare feet for both parents and tots.

Pointe is part of classical ballet technique made possible by pointe shoes and involves dancing on the tips of their toes for extended periods of time. This is a safe introductory class with a strong focus on building ankle strength. Open to dancers over 16 with ballet experience, dancers must participate in the prior ballet class to ensure they are warmed up. Please consult our ballet teacher before joining this class
