HIP HOP
Street style dance from the Bronx in New York City. Free, funky
and soulful expression of movement used by artists such as
Destiny's Child, Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliott.
What to wear:
Comfortable top; pants that you can move in; sneakers.
Headband, scarf, cap, bandanna accepted.

CONTEMPORARY
A creative dance form which combines strong technique with a
sense of release. Dance choreography usually tells a story
or portrays a theme and can rely greatly on the contribution
of the dancers themselves.
What to wear:
Tight fitting top half (sports top, leotard, tank top); 3/4 or
full length pants; 100% cotton socks or bare feet; hair tied
back, headband recommended.

JAZZ
A technical style, often associated with musicals such as Chicago
or Fame. Jazz is also the style used by pop stars such as Kylie
Minogue, Madonna and Britney Spears, and often features in
pop concerts, opening ceremonies and music videos.
What to wear:
Tight fitting top half (sports top, leotard,
tank top); 3/4 or full length pants (tight or loose fitting); black
jazz sneakers; hair tied back, headband recommended,

BALLET
A technique class which focuses on building
strength, flexibilty and core stability. Dancers are recommended
to learn ballet if they wish to pursue dance as a career.
What to wear:
Leotard;
pink stocking, skirt ot bike shorts; hair slicked back in a tight bun.
